At approximately 13:38 on 22 August 2026, a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle believed to be involved in remote jamming activities was detected by a number plate recognition camera.
Tracing Point Security members were immediately alerted, and a coordinated response was initiated. A pursuit ensued, with Tracing Point Tactical Officers and officers from another private security company successfully intercepting and stopping the vehicle in the vicinity of the Total Garage.
The occupants of the vehicle were detained while South African Police Service (SAPS) Hillcrest members were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, SAPS members took control of the situation and detained the driver. The vehicle was subsequently transported to Hillcrest SAPS for further investigation.
This incident once again highlights the importance of community camera networks, rapid communication and the swift response of Tracing Point Security members in identifying and disrupting suspected criminal activity.
Well done to the Tracing Point Security members and all responding officers for their quick response and professional handling of the incident. Their actions assisted SAPS in apprehending a suspect and removing a vehicle believed to be linked to criminal activity from the community.
