At approximately 06:50 on 21 August 2026, Tracing Point Security’s Tactical Response Unit (TRU) was notified of a vehicle believed to have been used in a criminal incident and reported to be travelling in the direction of West Riding. The vehicle was operating as a private lift service at the time, transporting local children to school.

Tracing Point TRU tactical members immediately responded and proceeded to intercept the vehicle. The vehicle was successfully stopped along Galloway Road, where tactical members secured the scene and engaged with the occupants.
School children were present in the vehicle at the time of the interception. Securing their wellbeing was the first priority on scene. Tactical members kept the children calm and arranged alternative transport so that they could continue on to school safely.
The CAS number relating to the original criminal incident was obtained from the security personnel at the shopping mall where the crime had occurred. South African Police Service (SAPS) members were subsequently contacted and requested to attend the scene.
Upon the arrival of SAPS, the driver and vehicle were escorted to SAPS Hillcrest for further investigation. The matter was handed over to SAPS, who proceeded with the necessary investigation and arrest procedures.
This incident demonstrates the effectiveness of rapid communication, coordinated tactical response and close cooperation between private security and SAPS in responding to suspected criminal activity and assisting in the apprehension of persons linked to criminal incidents.
Tracing Point Security remains committed to protecting our communities through proactive patrols, rapid response and strong cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
